In August 2024, doctors discovered a massive 16 x 13 x 12 centimeter sarcoma in his abdomen, hidden behind his heart and in front of his spine.

Despite the severity of his condition, Dr. Ong maintains a remarkably positive outlook, largely due to the support of his family.

Am I sad? No. I’m lucky that I have a wife watching over me. I’m lucky that I have children also watching over me. I’m so blessed,” Dr. Ong expressed, highlighting the crucial role his wife and daughters play in his fight against cancer.

As of September 16, 2024, Dr. Ong faces additional health complications, having been diagnosed with neutropenic sepsis.

Yet, he continues to draw strength from his family’s unwavering support.

Throughout his treatment, Dr. Ong’s wife, Dr. Anna Liza, stands by his side, embodying the “in sickness and in health” aspect of their marriage vows.
